Conor McGregor lost at UFC 257 to Dustin Poirier. Now, two trilogies are waiting for him to rise again!
UFC 257 at Fight Island, Abu Dhabi, Sunday (24/1) presents the Dustin Poirier vs. Conor McGregor duel as the main threat. Two fighters at the top of the UFC lightweight rankings have the ambition to win the championship belt.
Conor McGregor is the more favored, but Dustin Poirier can provide a surprise. ‘The Diamond’ beat ‘The Notorious’ in the second round, after beating him with a calf kick and an endless number of boxing combinations.
Reporting from MMA Junkie, Conor McGregor was seen walking with a stick after his duel with Dustin Poirier. ‘The Notorious’ confessed, his legs were dead!
‘My leg was numb. Dustin was an extraordinary fighter. Congratulations on him,’ said McGregor.
After a medical examination, it was revealed that Conor McGregor had an injury to his fibula or calf bone on the right. No doubt, McGregor received 18 calf kicks from Dustin Poirier.
As a result, Conor McGregor had to rest for 180 days or about six months. After that, he had to go back to examine the UFC medical team to determine whether he could return to fighting.
Of course, that’s bad news for McGregor. Because in 2021, it is said that McGregor wants to challenge boxer Manny Pacquiao.
Conor McGregor now has a fighting record of 22-5 in the MMA world. The Irish fighter had to postpone his dream of quickly becoming the lightweight champion at the UFC.

‘My score with Dustin is 1-1, so it will be interesting if we do it again,’ said McGregor on the official UFC website.
‘Yes, now I am 1-1 with Conor. We’ll see what it will be like in the future,” said Dustin Poirier on another occasion.
It seems that both Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier agreed to hold a trilogy. So now, the decision is up to the UFC.
Nate Diaz is considered a trilogy that is more exciting and full of drama for Conor McGregor.
Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz has played twice in March 2016 and in August of the same year.
In the second meeting, McGregor was able to win on points over Nate Diaz. Nate Diaz is interested in trying out the light class, which previously competed in the Walter class.
‘Nate said he wanted lightweight. Then it would be exciting to deal with it,’ said McGregor.
